Deborah Read Franklin*The spouce of Benjamin Franlin
* She was a prominent inventor, printer, thinker, revolutionary and Founding Father Of the United States * She first married john rogers and then he disappeared and that is when her and Franklin got together . *John rogers had put her in debt when he disappeared *Ben and Deborah began a common law - marriage in 1730 *They had two children * November 1769 she got an illness due to “dissatisfied distress” because of Ben's prolonged absence *In the late 1760s and early 1770s Deborah suffered a series of strokes which slurred her speech and memory *She had suffered stoke on Dec.14,1774 And died on Dec.19,1774. while Ben was on an extended trip to England *She was buried at Christ Church Burial Ground in Philadelphia, and Benjamin Franklin was buried next to her after he died in 1790. *Deborahs Role in founding the US was very important . She took on the management of her family business. By doing so she allowed her husband, founding father Benjamin Franklin the opportunity to pursue his role in state and national politics in the decades before and after the american revolution. President And Slavery*12 presidents owned slave
*They kept 4 in the white house ,it was also built in slave labor How do I feel about presidents and slavery .Well I definitly dont like the idea of slavery as it is and now knwing that the people that who ran our country and made alot of the decisions knowing they have slaves and the place the live in the white ouse was made by slave labor just really bothers me because honsestly slaveery is so wrng ecause noone is better than anyone no matter how much money or how much of anything . the person who you are inside is what amkes you. But when it comes to me all people are equal No One Is better than anyone . Its A Free CountryWhat does the word freedom mean to you ? How do you define it? Who or what protectes your freedom?
-What does freedom mean to me Freedom means many things to me as an individual and as one. I believe it means you have the right to be what you want to be, do what you want, not be afraid to express yourself and do what makes you happy. I believe Freedom should be for everyone, because I feel if someone does not have it then things can be completely different, but freedom is a right that everyone deserves. Ideas And People That Influnced FoundersJohn Locke wrote about rebellion and protecting self interests . Jean Jacques Rousseau French wrote about nature and in nature are equal.Sir Isaac Newton one of his big beliefs that our world is a watch and god is the watchmaker.
*Lower class people should just be servants *God didn't make a king they had to have one to protect one *People didn't question anything because they would be punished *He wrote about nature and noble savage, all men in nature are equal, civilization brings good and evil. *Our world is the watch and God is the watchmaker *The univerese is guided by scientific principles and its is man duty to learn its secrets *Sir Issac Newton - English Scientist 1642-1727, Our world is a watch and god is the watchmaker. The universe is guided by scientific principles and it is man's duty to learn it's secrets (like gravity causing an apple to fall Constitution USACreated Equal - 14th amendment made people equal. according to the Constitution. The 13th amendment abolished slavery. The 14th amendments guaranteed protection to all people born in the US. The 14 amendment left voting rights up to the states and the 15th amendment gave back people the right to vote and the 19th gave women the right to vote. Felons can lose the right to vote.
Rollin Over In Their Graves1. What is the issue that the author believes would have the Founding Fathers turning over in their graves about?
The author says that "the Supreme Court should not be regulating commerce to such an extent. " "Forcing Americans to buy healthcare or else face a penalty under the guise that mandatory care is some sort of tax that Congress has full power to levy is just plain wrong. So is penalizing people if they decide not to buy health insurance." 2. What is it about the Founding Fathers' beliefs/intentions would cause them to oppose the government's current actions? What in the government today that would make the founding fathers oppose it is i don't think they would like how much power the government has federally to control things that the state governments should be deciding on. 3. What would the author have us do to follow the Founding Fathers intentions on this issue? The author would want us to take actions to not allowing as many executive orders, and take the legislation through congress where it can voted on by the people, because the author says today's government does not respect the choices the people make when it comes to voting on bills, amendments, and other laws that affect us whether it's not directly or not http://www.federalobserver.com/2009/09/24/are-our-founders-rolling-in-their-graves/ My School ConstitutionHow I would write a constitution for the school
We the students of Long View High school think the students should have some input in the rules at the school. We want the students to be able to express their opinion and make the students happier and more compliant. Article I: Elections Section 1 - Student body positions There will be an overall student president and two students from each first period to be a part of the student congress. There will be a treasurer. This treasurer will go by the teachers and verify the money can be spent that way. There will be a court system that will decide the punishment if the rules are broken. Section 2 - How the student body will be elected The positions will be decided by a delegate. The delegate will the be the first hour teacher and the students can elect the official they would like as part of the student body. If the election would end in one delegate for each candidate then the school secretary will decide. Section 3 - How courts are decided. The student body will make the rules with the teachers and let the students have more input after the draft of the rules are made. After the draft of the rules are decided there will be a public comment period where the students have a week and a half to comment on the rule being made. There will be another public comment period where the students can put other opinions in and then the final draft will be written. |
